Congratulations to coach Al Arbour who not only coached his 1500th game tonight, but also won his 740th game with the New York Islanders franchise. For Islander fans, it was a very exciting game with the home team coming back from a 2-0 deficit to score 3 goals in the third period, including Miro Satan's winner with just over two minutes remaining.
After the buzzer, the entire Islanders bench turned around and began congratulating Arbour on the victory and Ruslan Fedotenko gave him the game puck. Once the celebrations were over, the Islanders took down the coach's "739" banner and replaced it with one signifying his 1500th game in charge. The Islanders have said they will add a "740" banner at a later date. I was wondering all week what they were going to do if they had won. Would they have another banner prepared? I guess not. It was a very classy presentation by the Islanders and I'm glad I stayed after the game to watch it. I may have been a disappointed Penguins fans tonight, but you didn't have to be an Islanders fan tonight to appreciate great hockey history.
Enjoy some photos from tonight's post-game celebration:

Look really closely and in the bottom right hand of the seats, you'll see two fans wearing Penguin jersey's. One is my buddy Andrew in the black Mario Lemieux sweater and to the right of him is me, in my Evgeni Malkin white practice jersey
