Sidney Crosby will be returning tonight against the Tampa Lightning after missing 21 (long) games due to a high ankle sprain. When he went down in mid-January, Penguins Nation felt like the world was ending. Enter Evgeni Malkin. The Russian superstar took the Penguins on his back (along with a little help from Ty Conklin) and the team went 11-6-4 in his absence, remaining near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to steal a page from the Homer Simpson book of song. Here's my Sidney Crosby version of "Oh Mindy" (or "Oh Mandy", if you're a Barry Manilow fan).
Well, you went and the Penguins kept winnin'
But, now you're back to play, oh Sidney
Well, your healed and the East should be shakin'
And we've missed you since that day, oh Sidney"
Thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the kielbasa.
The pieces of the puzzle are slowly coming together now for Pittsburgh. Crosby is back. Hossa will be back in a few days. Then it's time to see how dangerous this team can really be. The Eastern Conference is in for a wake up call.
