Setting the tone.
That's what tonight's 4-0 win was all about.
The Penguins came into tonight's game with the belief that last year was just that. They're a team that's another year mature and another year developed and another year with chemistry. Bryan Murray's antics aside, it's hard to fire up a team that lost two of its biggest key players for probably the series.
The 4-0 win was a shot sent to Murray and Senators that this year's version of the Penguins was not going to be pushed around. They're not going down without a fight...and they might not even let you score a goal.
Quick Hits- Game 1
-Could the white pads really be Marc-Andre Fleury's saving grace?
-Talk about Marian Hossa disappearing come playoff time all you want, but tonight he was just extremely unlucky. The prized deadline-day acquisition had seven shots, which included some highway robbery by Martin Gerber.
-If Ottawa goes down 2-0 in the series, does Bryan Murray go to Ray Emery for Game 3?
-How many Penguin fans almost crapped their pants when Sidney Crosby crashed into the boards feet first early in the third period?
-I was expecting Ottawa to play much more physical than they did. Where was Chris Neil starting a scrum or fight to get the troops going?
-Gary Roberts. The man has played two games now since December 29th. Safe to say he's ready for the playoffs.
-Petr Sykora might have been the biggest bargain from the free agent crop of last summer.
Game 2 is Friday night, 7pm ET.
Let's Go Pens!
UPDATE: If anyone went to the game tonight and has an extra Penguins rally towel, please let me know. I'd love to get my hands on one.
