USA Hockey to Make "Major" Olympic Announcement today

According to the USA Hockey website, there will be an announcement at 6:45 pm ET regarding the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. A press conference will take place during the USA Hockey Annual Congress at their headquarters in Colorado.

Rumor has it that the first two players of the 2010 USA Olympic hockey team will be announced, but I wouldn't be surprised if the coach's name is revealed instead.

I'll be back with an update once the announcement is made.

UPDATE: The announcement has been made and it's Brian Burke named general manager and David Poile assistant GM.

“It’s very comforting to have two of the absolute best in the business in Brian Burke and David Poile leading our Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team,” said Tony Rossi, vice president of USA Hockey and chair of the organization’s international council. “Together with Jim Johannson, our assistant executive director of hockey operations, we have a management team in place that has the broad experience necessary at the Olympic level.”
