Mario Lemieux Week Day 2: Cancer and the Comeback

January 12, 1993 was the day the hockey world sat back in awe as Lemieux made the announcement he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He wound up missing two months of the season and fell behind in the scoring race to Buffalo's Pat LaFontaine by 12 points. He returned to a standing ovation, in Philadelphia of all places, and scored a goal and an assist en route to a victory that would see Pittsburgh reel off 17 straight wins and Lemieux torch NHL goaltenders for his fourth Art Ross Trophy.
