Voting for the 2009 All Star game opened yesterday and after almost two full days, the Montreal Canadiens are leading the way. Just look at the difference in votes between Carey Price and Henrik Lundqvist.
It wouldn't be such a joke if every team's fans could vote for their full roster by texting the team name to the number. However, that priveledge is only given to the anointed Habs and Detroit, because the Gonchar ballot is a joke written on a bar napkin in July by the NHL's most incompetent advertisers.
I mean, come on. Tim Thomas? Won last year's game, leads the league in saves and gaa right now? The NHL looks like it knows about as much about hockey as ESPN right now. Buncha jokes.
Pick the ones having the best statistical season. Black and white and anybody can make it. Statistics have to be defined well, but then it adds excitement to the games pre-all-star break.
The fact that Thomas Vanek won't make it in the fan vote despite his RIDICULOUS start should be enough reason for the NHL to kill this idea immediately.

NAY!
And don't pick the most popular players either.

And I'm not even a Sabres fan.
Nay. How the HELL can Turco be considered an All-Star this season? They smoke some good stuff down in D-town.
