Puttin' On the Foil - A Weekly NHL Recap 11/23

MONOLOGUE
Nothing this week. Jet lagged.

WEEK THAT WAS
If the economy keeps going the way that it is, the salary cap will decrease and players will lose $9 million in escrow.

The fate of the Vancouver Canucks season now rests within Roberto Luongo's groin.

The Toronto Maple Leafs honored Wendel Clark's #17.

Two big injuries this week: Brendan Morrow is done for the year. Mike Komisarek is out a month.

Colorado signed Paul Stastny to a 5-year, $33 million deal.

If you want real cheap hockey tickets in December and January, look no further than the Detroit Red Wings and their $9 ticket sale.

GAME OF THE WEEK
San Jose at Chicago - 11/16
This game was back and forth until the end and there was plenty of success on special team for both the Sharks and Blackhawks. Taking a 4-2 lead midway through the second period, the Sharks could not keep the lead as Chicago scored three times, included two power-player goals within 22 seconds. In the third period, it was San Jose's turn to cash in with the extra skater as they potted two goals for the eventual 6-5 victory.

Highlights:

UPCOMING GAME OF INTEREST
Wednesday, November 26, 7:30 p.m. ET
Montreal Canadiens at Detroit Red Wings
Two of the top teams in the league at the moment and a possible Stanley Cup preview. The Habs took a hit on their blue line with Mike Komisarek out, so that's one less physical defenseman to try and stop the recently hot Marian Hossa. Carey Price will face a lot of rubber Wednesday night as the Red Wings are second in the league in shots per game (36.4) and goals scored (73).
