CONFIRMED Penguins Trade Darryl Sydor to Dallas for Philippe Boucher

UPDATE: TSN has picked up on this (RDS is it's French sister site).

UPDATE #2: Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette has confirmed that this deal is true.

Since the contracts match-up evenly, this is basically the Penguins needing a right-handed shot on the blue line that they currently only have in Kris Letang. Also, it could mark the beginning of Mark Eaton's time to watch games from the press box.

UPDATE #3: It's official and now on the Penguins homepage.

Canadian media out RDS is reporting that the Penguins and Stars have swapped defensemen Darryl Sydor and Philippe Boucher.

Sydor has been frustrated with his decreasing role on the Pens and his nightly appearances in the press box.

Both Boucher and Sydor make $2.5 million and will be unrestricted free agents on July 1, 2009 and were scratched tonight as well.

One of the most even trades you will ever see. Both reliable vets with a little left in the tank. Both making the same money. Both needing a change of scenery. Very cool ...
