The Crosby v. Malkin Debate

Because it's vogue for many to hate on Sidney Crosby, they immediately point out the success that Evgeni Malkin has had in his three seasons in the National Hockey League, including last year's performance when the Penguins captain was sidelined due to injury. While both are incredible talents and will be for years to come in the NHL, debating who's better should be left to non-Penguins fans.

As a Pens fan myself, if you want to tell me that Evgeni Malkin is the best player in the NHL, yet at the same time tell me there's some guy named Sidney Crosby also on my team, then sign me up. Both players are locked up until 2013, so while you debate who's better, I'll just enjoy watching them 82+ games a year

As a Caps fan,I too find the debate a bit hackneyed. Both are incredible hockey talents, but I think the real schism comes from their styles of play. Malkin is a high-powered Russian and is right there with the Semin's and Ovechkin's in the world. While Crosby is a smooth playmaker who can make you bury your hands in your face as if to say "god I hate him but he's so good."

At the end of the day, I think the debate is all about personal preference about style of play, not necessarily who has the most points.

Its a silly argument ala the old Ted Williams/Joe DiMaggio debate of the 1940's except both play on the same team. Yes, penguin fans should feel blessed!
